Archimedes Banya

Came in on a Monday right at noon when they opened. You get a bracelet w locker number, two freshly laundered towels, a robe and flip-flops. The establishment is on three different floors but all the saunas and plunges are on the first floor, place is super clean and everyone was very respectful except maybe one or two older men that bluntly were staring at women, clothing is optional. By 1:30pm there were more people but not so crowded that you could not enjoy the establishment. Second floor has a small patio, TV room and a restaurant. The third floor is a larger area w lounge chairs and stunning views of San Francisco. The entire experience was wonderful and just so relaxing. Easy street parking

Great spa, facilities are clean but dated and used. It is a great relaxing experience with different saunas, steam rooms and pools. Also a restaurant and treatment area available plus a chillout rooftop. Could use a facelift for sure but staff was cleaning and careful about folks following hygiene rules which i liked. Be aware its mixed gender and nude mostly but you dont feel creeped out or dirty but very much a different experience than what you may be used to living in the US.

I came here with my partner and wow this was a fun place to go! We'd heard a lot about it from various folks. Good: - The variety of facilities is great, I enjoyed doing the steam room then a cold plunge then the hot spa and then back into the cold plunge - Friendly other people -you don't get bothered if you don't want to chat, but you can also chat with others - Nice towel and sandals available for free - Showers are really nice! Bad: - Decently expensive, for our trip it was about $240 a person including the deep tissue massage - Feels not as clean as some other places, and it gets packed so you might have to wait around Overall it was an enjoyable time and it was fun to go with my partner! We did the swimsuit option, but a lot of the men especially were clothing optional from my observation.

Please share this public service announcement with everyone who doesn't want to be touched near their private parts by a stranger: never let a man open a door for you. A white man in his 50s let his romantic partner in first and then me. Then he put his hand on the small of my back as I walked in and then reached lower. I met him seconds ago. He didn't need to touch me at all. All I can say as a trained energy worker is that karma is real. And that man will get his karma. In case you didn't get the memo, don't touch anyone anywhere without asking them first.

Not trans inclusive — and they aren't up front about it either! They assign you to a locker in the locker room corresponding to the marker on your drivers license. The alternative offered was to change in the basement which can feel really othering. Why should it matter which room we remove our clothing in or shower in if we are then entering a mixed gender, clothing optional space? The staff were curt, unkind, poorly informed and handled the situation embarrassingly poorly. We had even called ahead of arriving to understand their policies but they were ambiguous and contradictory. They could of at least been up front about their policy and saved us the drive. Definitely not a place that deserves my money. I'll be checking out Kabuki Springs or maybe even Good Hot.

This review is specifically about the water they provide in the spa area. Each time I've visited, the water cooler had a sign on it saying that it's from a Kangen water filter and included contact information for a 'rep'. This is a multi level marketing company that operates unethically, shilling $1000+ water filters that essentially just make water have a higher pH than normal tap water (alkaline water also does not have substantial research to verify the ridiculous health benefits made in support of drinking it). In short, it's a scam and it's shameful Banya is promoting it, potentially to people trying to improve their health.

The bath was great, my problem was how their Groupon situation was organized! Just disappointing! My husband and I were excited for the bath and was even deciding on becoming regular customers but that all changed after that situation. If you don’t want complications during your visit to the bath house just pay via website/ call.
